EmpowerHer High Tea 2025: “You Are More than Enough – Believe It”

On 28 September 2025, the Pella Matlhako Development Group (PMDG) hosted its first-ever EmpowerHer High Tea at Bornfire Ministry Church, a milestone in our ongoing effort to nurture confidence, leadership, and life skills among young women and men in our community.

This year’s seminar brought together learners from Morare and Sewagodimo Technical High Schools, alongside community members, health professionals, and guest speakers from the Moses Kotane Sub-District, SAPS Madikwe, and local organizations.

The High Tea created a safe and supportive environment for honest conversations around mental health, teenage pregnancy, gender-based violence, and self-confidence. The theme, “You Are More than Enough – Believe It,” set the tone for a day of motivation and reflection.

Despite a modest turnout of 15 learners, the event achieved a resounding success. Attendees expressed feeling empowered, inspired, and more self-assured, with evaluation forms showing 100% satisfaction. Participants highlighted the guest talks, discussions on self-belief, and awareness of issues like bullying and early pregnancy as the most impactful parts of the programme.

Beyond motivation, the day also featured health services, an engaging raffle draw, and uplifting entertainment. Funds raised through raffle and ticket sales supported the event’s logistics and prizes, including an air fryer, kettle, and mall

voucher, thanks to the generosity of community members and PMDG volunteers.

The EmpowerHer initiative continues PMDG’s long-standing work since 2016, when we began distributing sanitary pads and hosting motivational sessions in Pella schools. Over time, this has evolved into a broader youth empowerment movement.

While we celebrate this milestone, we also note key lessons, the need for stronger outreach, earlier awareness drives, and inclusive participation. As one participant shared, “EmpowerHer is a platform that makes us believe in ourselves and our futures.”

PMDG extends heartfelt gratitude to all who made this day possible, including:

  • Mr. Makgotlho (SAPS – Madikwe)
  • Dr. Queen Molefe
  • Dr. Lebogang Molefe
  • Moses Kotane Sub-District Health Services
  • Bornfire Ministry Church

Together, we are proving that empowerment begins with believing you are enough, and acting on it.
